This is a great way to learn the basics of making a plate with fusible glass. The project will be an 8”x8” or 6”x12” plate. We will discuss composition, volume control, glass cutting, kiln firing and slumping into molds. Straight cuts only will be required for this class. Different styles of plates will be discussed. So many options will be available; you might have a hard time choosing just one. Students will be provided with a handout for future reference. No experience necessary. Includes a full fuse and a slump. Starts with Basic Intro. Additional topics include: How volume affects overall shape. How to avoid air bubbles. How to include a “bubble squeeze” into a fusing schedule. Slumping, draping into or onto molds. Boron nitride treatment and safety precautions.
