Join us for the day and explore the wonderful world of art glass. During this all day class, you will get to try all four areas of art glass including Stained Glass, Mosaics, Fusing and Flameworking. Projects will include: fused pendants, a mosaic wall hanging, blown glass ornaments, and a stained glass sun catcher. All materials are included. Beginning Stained Glass WorkshopNo skills needed for this class. Bring a friend or neighbor and come join us for this fun and exciting class. See if stained glass is something you would be interested in before making the investment in supplies and tools. We will show you step-by-step instructions on how to cut glass, pattern preparation, foiling, soldering in order for you to complete your first stained glass panel, which you will take home with you. We offer lots of individual instruction, use of shop tools. Children 12 years of age or older welcome. Class fee includes all materials needed for this class. Fused Glass/ Stained Glass ComboLearn how to fuse and do stained glass all in one class. During week one you will learn how to do a basic fused piece. Week two you will learn how to add that piece into a stained glass panel. This is a great way to add a little dimension to your stained glass pieces. Some beginning stained glass and fusing experience required.Patterns will be provided. Here is an opportunity to experience a variety of classes offered by The Vinery all in one day! These classes are designed to allow to have a peek at what it might be like to pursue a hobby in the area of stained glass, mosaics, fused glass and beadmaking/flameworking. Each class will last an hour and will thrill you beyond belief how much fun it is working with glass! Nature and GlassIndeed this is a new class for us to teach! Introducing a variety of elements into a dimensional stained glass panel will unleash your creative side! Rondels, glass “heads and tails”, sticks and any other element you want to use will embellish your design. Round or V shaped pattern blanks will be provided. Class materials provided include preshaped zinc, foil to cover your branch, and one “heads and tail” glass piece. Along with consumables, students will have to purchase extra glass and rondels. Sizzling Scrap Garden StakeBring color to your Garden by using your glass scraps to create this striking garden stake. In this class you will assemble this 4 foot sculpture. All you need to bring is pre-foiled scrap glass, solder, and soldering iron. The pieces will need to be foiled with silver foil which you will receive when you stop in to sign up for the class. If you sign up online we can mail you the foil. Beginning Stained Glass ClassLearn the art of stained glass in this 4-week course. We offer step-by-step instruction on cutting glass, pattern preparation, glass selection, the copper foil technique, soldering, and finishing your project. Class meets one night a week for four weeks. Students will choose from 4 or 5 patterns. Class fee does not include tools or supplies. Choose the day & time that works for you! Intermediate Stained GlassThe Advanced class will expand and polish your stained glass skills. Attendance at a beginning class or prior stained glass experience is required. This 4 week course is intended to teach you the copper foil technique. We offer step-by-step instruction on cutting glass, pattern preparation, glass selection, foiling, and soldering, to the final steps of completing your project. Class fee does not include supplies. This class is for you folks that are stained glass hobbyists wannabes. Come take a free mini class to experience for yourself the joy of working with glass. The project will be 4 - 1.5 inch square bevels soldered together. We will supply materials and tools- all you have to do is register and show up!! Beginning St Glass Intensive WeekendAll of the joys of our 4 week class compacted into 2 days of fun! Choose from any of the patterns in our Beginning Patterns I book, add your own colors, and show off your great creation by Sunday afternoon! Students may borrow our tools for the class, but will be expected to purchase glass and supplies, such as solder and foil. Students will receive a $20.00 coupon off our tool kits, in case you decide to get your own set. This is a great opportunity for out-of-towners or for anyone who is too busy for the 4 week class. Students will be given/mailed our Beginning Patterns I book upon sign-up and are expected to have their pattern chosen and ideas for glass colors ready for class. Lead Came ClassThis class is designed to teach you the techniques of lead came including pattern preparation, safety, cutting the lead came and soldering it together. This is a hands on class, you will leave with a finished leaded panel. Some preparation for this class is required. You will be given a class preparation sheet and your choice of several patterns upon signing up for this class. We ask that you choose your glass and bevels prior to class to save time on class day. Prerequisite: Beginning Stained Glass Class. Class fee does not include glass or bevels. Students must bring their own tools and supplies. The handout for this class can be accessed at www.vineryglass.com/LeadCameHandout.php Please read this handout prior to class. Come discover the many applications for Abrasive Etching, both as an art form and to compliment work in other disciplines. The Vinery has replaced its 30 year old gravity fed sandblasting cabinet with a new Glastar Mini Passer system, including cabinet and pressure pot. Learn how to use the new system, about resists, design selection & transfer, and how to acquire & use pre-cut stencils. All materials are supplied for each student to create 2 projects, one flat panel using the hand cut method, and one cup or glass using a precut stencil. Wren George, our etching specialist, will teaching, limit 8 per class.Our sandblasting cabinet is for rent- $10 per 1/2 hour.Please call the store for available times. Soldering/Fininshing Tips & TechniquesThis is a hands-on class that will help you improve your soldering skills and your ability to draw a smooth solder bead. We will also go over the final steps in completing a stained glass project, including a discussion on the correct metals to use on the outside of your project, proper hooks for hanging, and applying patina & finishing compound. This is a useful session for all stained glass hobbyists, and past students remark that it makes a great difference in the quality of their stained glass. Along with your soldering tools, you should bring a small project foiled ready to be soldered, or 8 pieces of foiled glass [1" by 8"] to practice your soldering on. Using the Morton SystemLearn to use Morton’s Portable Glass Shop to quickly and easily cut out stained glass patterns. Whether you cut glass for mosaics, stained glass or fusing, you will appreciate this time-saving system and the way it helps you achieve a professional cut. All materials and use of our tools is included, but you may wish to bring your own system, glass cutter & pliers if you have them. All Morton System tools will be on sale during class. |
